Intro to Glass Fusing

Prerequisite: None

Workshop Fee: $95 class / $25 Materials fee

Class Size: limited eight to ten students

Instructor: Bea Sharp

Learn how to make beautiful kiln worked glass in this fun orientated, non-technical workshop! This class is to introduce you to the glass fusing process by melting glass in a kiln. The goal of this class is to show you how easy and fun it is to make small kiln fired projects. I will help you explore your creative and artistic abilities. Since this is a two-day workshop, we will concentrate on smaller projects. A few things that  will be covered in this class are: Glass Compatibility, firing, annealing, and cutting glass.

Fused Glass Refresher

Prerequisite:   Beginning Fused glass or similar fusing experience

Workshop fee:   $50

Class Size:       limited to 8 students

This class is ideal for those who have been away from glass and want to start working on projects.  In the one-day workshop we will review cutting glass, using the saws and grinders to get the shapes you want for your project.  You’ll be ready to start a new project.

Fused Glass II

Prerequisite: Beginning Fused Glass or similar fusing experience

$150 materials included

Class Size: 8 students only 

Instructor: Bea Sharp

This class is ideal for the creatively fired up student who wants to explore the design possibilities of fused glass and get technical. During this 2-day workshop, you will choose from smaller items to work with (pins, earrings, pendants or tiles). Learn how to create and incorporate different design elements into your custom piece.

Class Hours Saturday 12-400pm (2 SATURDAYS)

Microwave Glass Fusing

Prerequisite:None

$76 includes Materials

Class Size: eight students
Instructor: Bea Sharp

Create beautiful glass pieces in your microwave! You can create beads, pendants and earrings with the microwave and a special kiln. An inexpensive way to get into the fun of glass fusing.

Dates: Tuesday's

Class hours: 7pm-930pm

*Class takes place in San Mateo at Beresford Recreation Center.

Tumbling

Glass Torch Tricks
 
Prerequisite: Basic Glass fusing knowledge

Class Fee: $85 includes materials

Instructor: Bea Sharp

 

You will learn, safety, setup, and how to make creative elaments to incorporating into your fusing projects plus basic bead making. I will show how to use glass rods to make stringer, dots, tear drops and interesting twist. All with a portable torch and minimal setup you can do at home. This is a great class to learn some new tricks for creating new ideas for your projects.

Fused Glass Ornaments and Holiday Accents

Make your own holiday ornaments! While learning the art of glass fusing. Have fun making one of a kind ornament for the tree and the home. The basics of fusing will be covered. You will also get to make small candle holders, holiday jewelry and more.  This is truly a fun class to experiment in.

Create one-of-a-kind Dichroic Glass Jewelry and Components in this workshop. Students will learn how to design their pieces for maximum beauty and sparkle using a fabulous assortment of Dichroic glass. Topics covered will be cutting,shaping cabochons, fused bead making, earring techniques, colors and textures, and the basics of Dichroic glass. Students will be shown how these items can be mounted into finished jewelry pieces to make pendants, beads, earrings, pins, or whatever your imagination can dream up (within the limits of the class)

Fused Glass Plates & Bowls
 
Prerequisite: Beginning Fused Glass or similar fusing experience

Class Size: 6 Students only
Instructor: Bea Sharp 

This class is ideal for the student accustomed to working with glass and creative design elements. In this 2-day workshop you will create you own 8" square or round bowl. You will be provided with one piece of clear and black glass and have a full range of colored glass and glass accessories in which to create and customize your own art bowl or plate. Express yourself by using all the elements and design ideas learned in FUSED FOCAL II to create a one of a kind masterpiece. This is a great way to personalize a special gift.

Experimental Fusing Friday EFF

Come and explore! This is an open session to all that want to try the latest product or learn something new in  glass, beading, metals and so forth.  This is play time!  On the fourth Friday a month we will cover 1 topic and go where the moment takes us.

 This is open to all glassaholics!

7pm to 9pm  (Studio opens at 630pm)
Small fee will apply

If you're interested in getting together with other people and advancing your skills in glass, or maybe you just need a little more room to make some new design. Here is an excellent opportunity for you to have access to a glass studio in a creative environment without the great expense of setting up their own shop. Participants must have completed a fusing class or display a good understanding of working with glass and studio safety procedures in order to participate.  You will also need to provide your own tools and supplies, or they can be purchased in the studio. Kiln rental is available.
